What advice would you give someone pursuing a career in fashion?
“Creating connections is the best way to grow. I would seize any opportunity that comes your way to meet someone new in the fashion world. I think there is always something to be learnt from meeting new people, especially when you are establishing yourself.”
How would you describe your workwear aesthetic?
“For my workwear outfits, comfort and ease is key. I like to have a rotation of failsafe pieces that I know will look chic, but will also be comfortable all day and are easy to style up in the mornings.”
What is your favourite thing about working for Karen Millen?
“The team! KM feels like a little family. It makes for a very enjoyable and creative workspace, where everyone has the same drive.”
What is your favourite thing about working for Karen Millen?
“The people for sure, but also the level of creativity is inspiring and I feel that really shows in the products.”
What autumn fashion trend are you seeing most around the office?
“Oversized knit jumpers, very cosy and autumnal. They are key wardrobe pieces that can be dressed up or down.“
How would you describe your workwear aesthetic?
“Definitely smart casual. I like to be comfortable at work, so I would pair straight leg joggers with an oversized shirt to elevate the look.”
What advice would you give someone pursuing a career in fashion?
“Embrace change! The retail landscape is completely different today to when I first started my career in buying 14 years ago. The fashion industry is constantly evolving which is what makes it so exciting, and definitely never boring, but it can feel tricky for those who fight the change or don’t evolve with it. Keep evolving, keep learning and be open to future trends and opportunities.”
What autumn fashion trend are you seeing most around the office?
“With a long standing love of knitwear Autumn is my absolute favourite season for fashion. I just love this time of year. Seeing lots of people in cosy knit pieces styled with a great cut pair of trousers or jeans and boots. Comfort and timeless style.”
What has been your favourite project you've worked on so far this season?
“As a buyer I am always working a season ahead and my newest project is always my favourite. I’m currently waiting for all our exciting new swimwear development to arrive for Summer 25 and also working on our strategy for the Autumn 25 knitwear season! We have a very exciting sourcing trip coming up in October where we will kick off the season sourcing and developing all our fantastic premium yarns and designs for next year. I can’t wait!”
How would you describe your workwear aesthetic?
“Polished but relaxed. My go-to outfit is a two-piece co-ord which feels put together with little creativity required. Those versatile, capsule pieces are key for me. I also tend to sway towards a monochrome - I’m rarely in anything other than black!”
What has been your favourite project you've worked on so far this season?
“I love the trend forecasting side of my role, especially for autumn/winter as we tend to see the biggest shifts in style. Unpicking data to discover what the next leopard print moment will be, or which coat we’ll all be seeing this year, I find really interesting.”
